KARAKA COTTAGE INFORMATION:

• Karaka Cottage provides shared accommodation for up to 10 people (cyclists).

• Dinner + Breakfast meal option for individuals/couples/small groups.

*     Large groups may prefer to arrange self-catering option or through cycle-tour company.

*     Bookings are essential.

ACCOMMODATION:

From $50 per person/ per night

​

*     Bookings are taken per room:

​

• Room 1:  Twin or triple share (3 x long-single beds)

• Room 2  Twin or Triple share (3 x long-single beds)

• Room 3  Twin/Triple/Quad share (4 x long single bunk beds)

*     Price per room/per night:  

• $120 for 1-2 people 

• $150 for 3 people 

• $200 for 4 people (bunk room)

*if you want the house just for your group you will need to book all 3 rooms at a minimum of $120 per room.

​

Includes  bedding and towels.

FOOD: 

​

$40 per person (minimal prep required - will be in fridge on your arrival)

​

Meal option includes:

• Main - may include beef/chicken/lamb dish + salad, pasta or rice. Will require heating    frozen - generous 450gm portion size) 

• Dessert 

• Breakfast provisions - Muesli, milk, yoghurt, bread, spreads

• Tea/coffee.

Drinks:  

• $5 beer (stubbie) 

• $20 bottle wine (white/red)  

*     pre-arranged and paid for at time of booking ("House" options only - no requests sorry)

COTTAGE:

​

• Bathroom: shower, basin

• Toilet: separate to bathroom 

• Kitchen: oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, crockery, cutlery, utensils, pots, bowls, coffee plungers, teapots, instant coffee/tea bags, salt/pepper

• Lounge: woodburner, comfortable seating, tv, radio, magazines, cards....

• Laundry: washing machine, laundry tub, drying rack

• Covered bike storage in shed

• Covered entry way for helmets, coats and footware.

• Water is 'farm supply'.  Gravity fed tanks filled from springs. Not chlorinated/treated. All humans and animals residing on Waiorongomai drink from the same supply but it is your own choice. Bring own if any concerns. Hot water is  from a hot water cylinder so large groups will need to be mindful of usage to ensure everyone gets a hot shower!

* Please note this cottage does not have wi-fi.  We hope you enjoy escaping the digital world for an evening!! Mobile coverage is good for Spark but Vodaphone coverage can be patch.

DIRECTIONS:

​

The address is 2186 Western Lake Road. The cottage is set in a paddock through a farm gate and is cream with a grey roof. There is a cream letterbox with Karaka and 2186 on it.

• If travelling from Featherston you will travel 21.86km's along Western lake Road.  

• If travelling via the Remutaka Cycle trail the distance is approximately 13km's  from the Western lake Turn off at Cross Creek.

The distance from Karaka cottage to Ocean Beach is approximately 20km's on sealed roads.

​

Cancellation Policy:

​

• Accommodation, food and drinks must be paid for in full at time of booking.  

• Payment via internet banking. Account details will be provided on booking. (No credit card payments accepted)

• Cancellations more than 1 week before staying will receive full refund.

• Cancellations less than 1 week before staying are non-refundable.
